NOTE: Databases that have been configured to work at Carleton have "CC" after the database name. (You may have to first choose databases to be your "favorites" using the link next to listed databases.) Use the "Online Search" section of Endnote Online's "Collect" tab and select the research database you wish to use.Option 3: A few databases allow you to search them through the "Collect" Tab in EndNote Online In EBSCO databases, "Export" and then select "Direct Export to EndNote Web.".In Web of Knowldge or similar databases, at the top of your result list select "Save to EndNote Online" from the menu.As you find relevant sources in these databases, mark them by clicking the check-box next to the record.Option 2: Web of Knowledge, other Clarivate databases, and EBSCO databases allow Direct Export to EndNote Online Fill in or correct whatever information you can in the Capture References box. When you're on a page that you'd like to save to Endnote Online, click the "Capture References" bookmarklet. In Endnote Online, click on "Downloads" and then drag the "Capture References" bookmarklet to your bookmark toolbar. If you must use the direct search feature, you may just search PubMed from EndNote.Option 1: The "Capture References" Bookmarklet Using a database’s native search engine would be much more effective in retrieving relevant references for a particular topic. EndNote search engine is not designed to search Medline on OvidSP or other databases, rather its own libraries. My advice is unless you are trying to find a specific reference, you should not use the EndNote direct search feature for a topic search. Now you should be able to search it directly.

Then a little login box appears, do not enter anything but just click OK. Then open EndNote, choose Online Search Mode and more… When Choose a Connection box pops up, choose Medline (OvidSP) and hit the Choose button. So you need to authenticate your computer first by accessing Medline and keep the window open or minimized (do not close it). EndNote does not know who is a legitimate user.

Unlike PubMed that is publicly accessible, Medline via OvidSP is restricted to subscribers. Searching Medline via OvidSP directly from EndNote is a little tricky.

When I used EndNote to search Ovid Medline, I was asked to enter username and password.
